City Mouse and Village Mouse

As a child I remember a story about the city mouse and the country mouse, I am making a cultural adaptation here...the city mouse and the village mouse.

Once apon a time, there was a city mouse, who was very convinced her city way of doing things was the right way. She had the clothes and the friends equivocal to the city life. There were certain foods she longed to have daily access to, where she knew city life was the only life for her. For the sake of this story, we will call this city mouse, Jamie.

Then she was introduced to the village mouse, who, for the sake of the story we will call Tara. This village mouse wanted nothing more than to live in the village and work with other village mice.

Tara and Jamie met and then lost touch. I'm not sure why, but sometimes it just happens. City life gets too city and village life get too...villagey.

Then one day, unbeknownst to either mouse, their paths were crossed. The village mouse had come to the city to pray at the city mouse's church. The city mouse literally turned around and there she was, her long lost village mouse friend. The two traded phone numbers (yes, the mice had phones..it's the 21st century). The city mouse was so excited of this reunion and could not wait for the village mouse to visit her so she could show her friend all the amazing benefits of city life.

The village mouse did visit the city mouse and they had a wonderful visit. But, the village mouse eagerly returned to the village. The city mouse was a little perplexed, but was grateful for the visit and return visits, which were quite lovely.

Finally, the city mouse ensured her little mouse car would be sufficient to drive the path to the village and made the journey with her other city mouse friend. As the city mice arrived at the village mouse's house, they felt as if they had walked into a wonderland of sorts. (Possibly because the house is painted as if it came out of the game CandyLand). The city mice were greeted by many village mice who were quite eager to know these city-savvy mice.

As all the mice got to know each other, the city mouse realized how amazing her village mouse friend was by working with the other village mice. You see, the young village mice are often overlooked by the other mice in the country and are often left without cheese. So the village mouse has made her goal to help these mice build their own pathway to the cheese, not only teaching them how to build, but also showing them how to help others find cheese.

At the end of a fantastic day, the two city mice had to return to their city life. Both quietly realizing how they could easily buy their cheese at any corner cheese stand and often took it for granted. They thanked God for the blessings in their lives. And thanked God for the village mouse being so dedicated to the other village mice.

Tonight, as all the mice get into their respective beds--the city mice into their city beds and the village mice into their village beds--they will know they serve the same amazing God. And as they close their eyes, they make a promise to serve Him with everything He has blessed them with so that everyone will be able to eat as much cheese as they want one day.

The beginning.
